A volunteer-run recreational badminton league catering mainly to the gay and lesbian community in downtown Toronto. The league was established in November of 2003.
Cabbagetown Group Softball League
The Cabbagetown Group Softball League (CGSL) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1975. Initially comprised of only 4 teams, the CGSL currently boasts 18 teams in 4 divisions of play with membership in excess of 400 women and men. The CGSL also hosts the annual Canada Cup Tournament in July, which attracts players from across Canada and the United States. In addition to playing softball, the League has become a vibrant force in the Lesbian and Gay international community through its annual events, entertainment spectacles, celebrations, volunteer work and charity. The 519 Church St. Community Centre is a recipient for the donation of cash and toys for needy children raised at our annual Christmas party. Past beneficiaries have included the PWA Foundation, Gilda Fund and Toronto Hospital for Sick Children.
CGSL is always looking for women who would like to play softball, meet new people, and have fun. NO experience needed. Season runs May-August. Registration dates posted on the league's website. Downtown Soccer Toronto is Toronto's first official gay & lesbian summer co-ed recreational soccer league, aimed at providing an athletic and socially safe atmosphere for everyone to enjoy playing soccer. Registration is usually held in March. The league also hosts a weekend soccer tournament: the Toronto International Pride Cup (

COME OUT! Hoopsies started it's first official season in Sept. 2002. Hoopsies is a non-profit basketball league in Toronto designed for the GLBTcommunity. Games will be played out of Palmerston Public School located near Bloor and Bathurst. This four team league promises skill development, friendship development and fun! Level of play ranges from no skill to advanced and teams will be divided based on a self evulation. Next season starts January 2003. Email us to obtain a registration form.
